Christmas Craft Idea

Whenever I come across felt, I just stare at it, with no idea what to do with it. Fortunately, there's other people that have come up with some fantastic felt ideas. Here's one that will dress up your holiday table... felt stocking flatware holders.

We're on Etsy!

Homebodies is on Etsy! It's our favorite website for finding unique handmade and vintage items. While we will have some of our handmade items on there, our main focus for our Etsy shop will be our vintage items not found in our store. Check out our Esty store- http://www.beahomebody.etsy.com/.

What are you making for Thanksgiving?

11-30 update:Thanksgiving was wonderful; my pies not so great. When a recipe calls for something "room temperature," it's best to follow the advice. My cheesecake was lumpy thanks to cold cream cheese that didn't blend... and a distracted cook (me) watching recorded episodes of TV shows we love with J. oh well. won't be hard to top next year. Hopes your T-day was great.
--------------------------------
We're going to mom's for Thanksgiving... so she's doing most of the work. I am making a few deserts... pumpkin cheesecake and J's favorite, chocolate pie.
My pumpkin cheesecake recipe is a favorite of mine... I haven't made it in a few years, and am looking forward to it.
I'll be whipping it up tonight because it does have to chill overnight. Here's the recipe, if you'd like to try it. I'll try and post photos later... if I don't screw it up.

Our First Christmas Tree "Assignment"

Sostanza's Restaurant was kind enough to ask homebodies to decorate their main Christmas tree this year... it was quite the project! Once we got the lights on (and it only took us 3 tries), it was time to pile on the goods. We chose a warm, rich palette of orange, gold, green and brown. We chose ornaments in a variety of sizes and added some faux florals - green poinsettias and rust-colored hydrangeas to tone down the glitz, but not the glamour. It turned out beautifully. We hope you get a chance to see it and enjoy an excellent meal at the same time.

Please email us photos of your Christmas tree and we'll post them to our blog!

P.S.... we are also decorating a tree for the Children's Justice Center... details and pictures to come!

Golden Gourds

So here's what I worked on for a bit last night... glittered gourds. I've done them in both brown and gold and I'm using them around the house for a little autumn-style bling. (I'll also have some at homebodies by the weekend for sale.) When I showed them to Jeff he said they reminded him of the Solid Gold Dancers and he wanted to know which one was Marilyn McCoo...too funny!
If you want to try this yourself (I love to glitter anything)... I just cleaned the gourds (scrub them with an abrasive pad or fine sand paper), spray paint them a similar color to the glitter you'll use and when they're dry, cover them in glue and pour on the glitter. It's a really good idea to spray them with clear coat laquer to keep the glitter on longer. Here's where I get my glitter... pretty good bulk pricing, but if you know of a better deal, please share!
