Mother's Day is May 9th... and homebodies has lots of fun things to give her. We'll post a few ideas a day up until closing Saturday, May 8th.
To start, here are a few boards we have ordered... you can choose from "mom" or "grandma" and these come in black or cream....both can hold lots of cherished photographs.

Locally Made Furniture

One of our talented crafters brought by
a slew of new items this past weekend including a bench (with storage under the seat), a large sofa table, a
6-foot shelf with pegs and faux drawers, a small red cabinet with 2 drawers, a black bookcase, a red bookcase and a rustic mirror. Of course if you like these items but they're the wrong size or color for your space, we can have another custom made to your specifications.

homebodies just received some new fun items that can fit in many different design environments. We've put up a few photos here of our favorite things... including the wire baskets... they are quite large and really make a statement. The 2-drawer chests feature a silver, rustic finish and a beautiful wood top, while the iron mirror measures about 4 feet long and is sturdy and pretty.... use it in a hallway, in a bedroom or hang it on a narrow wall.

Bid to Give ends SATURDAY!!

Tooele's Downtown businesses are sponsoring BID TO GIVE! It's a chance to get some really great stuff at a low price -- PLUS the money goes to charity AND you can use your receipt as a charitable donation for taxes. Here's how it works: Downtown businesses have donated items to put up for auction. All you need to do to get these items is be the highest bidder. The money collected from the highest bid goes to charity... so if you bid the most, you get cool stuff and you support a local charity.
homebodies has two bids to compete for, both of them including $20 gift certificates.
Here's a list of some other downtown businesses that are participating:
Upgrades Etcetera Computers, 26 West Vine -- donating a full computer system including monitor, keyboard, speakers and a mouse
Chamber of Commerce, 86 South Main -- donating a gift basket including gift certificates, shirts, hats and other goodies
Granny's Closet, 18 North Main -- donating a decorated window
Tooele Overstock Store, 5 North Main -- donating a rocking chair and a 5x7 wool rug

Stop by homebodies for a complete list of participants... don't wait! Bidding ends at close of business Saturday!!!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day! As I was driving to work, I started thinking about what we, our family, do to help the earth... it's not much but it's certainly more than what we did five years ago.
We recycle newspaper and other paper (we have a big metal basket right by the fireplace and we use the paper as kindling during the cold moths) and we choose from the many metal recycle bins around town. We also recycle plastic, bottles/glass and aluminum cans. These we take to Green Box Recycling out at the Industrial Depot. The kids love that we actually get money (about .46 cents per lb. last time I checked) for the cans.
We re-use the same plastic water bottles over and over (sometimes a little too long I think) and we try to wash most of our clothes in cold water, and be mindful of water conservation in and outside of the home. As far as energy consumption goes, we started a few years back to change out our lightbulbs with the energy efficient ones and now when we leave town for a few days, we unplug small appliances and electronics.
Is any of it making a difference? I'd like to think so... and it certainly makes us feel good. Now that I've shared some of our "green" efforts, please share yours. Together, we really can make a difference for a healthier planet.
